Describe unusual items first
Give the supplier a full description, especially for electrical appliances, liquids, chemicals, batteries, tyres, plasterboard and suspected hazardous material. Ask whether each item is accepted, needs separation or requires another service.
Keep people and materials safe
Do not disturb suspected asbestos to estimate its volume. Get appropriate specialist advice. Businesses have additional duties when hazardous waste is involved.
Confirm the disposal route
For household collections, check that the person taking the waste is authorised. Keep the supplier’s details and the collection documentation.
